Privacy Policy

Your shipping settings belong to your store. This policy explains what information Shippify NZ uses to provide postcode-based shipping rules, how we handle it, and how to contact us.

Last updated: 19 October 2026

1. Who we are

Shippify NZ is developed and operated by Business Town Limited, based in Auckland, New Zealand. This policy applies to the Shippify NZ Shopify app and its related online services. For privacy enquiries, email hi@businesstown.co.nz.

2. Information we use

To provide and maintain the app, we process information such as:

  • Store and installation details: your Shopify store domain, app authorisation and session information, which may include the name and email address of a Shopify administrator, and information needed to connect the app to your store.
  • Shipping configuration: postcode lists, delivery categories, shipping method names and identifiers, and app settings that you choose to save.
  • Service and technical information: information needed for security, troubleshooting, reliability and support, which may include error records and request metadata.
  • Information you send us: your email address and the contents of any support or privacy enquiry.

Shopify may provide billing and subscription status information to support a paid app plan. Subscription charges are handled through Shopify's billing services.

3. How shipping postcodes are used

When enabled by a merchant, Shippify NZ uses the delivery postcode made available to its Shopify Function during checkout to determine which eligible shipping options should be shown. This decision is made in the Shopify checkout environment using the shipping rules configured for that store.

The app is designed to work with shipping categories and postcodes rather than customer profiles. It does not need a customer's name, email address or payment card number to determine the urban or rural shipping category. The checkout postcode is not written to Shippify NZ's application database by the shipping Function.

4. Why we use this information

  • To install, authenticate and operate Shippify NZ.
  • To save and synchronise shipping rules with Shopify.
  • To apply the shipping options selected by the merchant.
  • To maintain security, investigate problems and provide support.
  • To meet applicable legal and contractual obligations.

We do not sell merchant or customer information to advertisers. We do not use checkout delivery postcodes for unrelated marketing.

5. Shopify and service providers

Shippify NZ operates as a Shopify app. Shopify processes information under its own privacy terms and provides the systems used for authentication, checkout functions and app billing. We use hosting and technical service providers, including Railway, to operate the app and its database. These providers may process limited information on our behalf to deliver their services, potentially outside New Zealand.

We share information where needed to operate the app, comply with the law or respond to a valid legal request. We do not disclose shipping configuration data to other merchants.

6. Retention, security and uninstalling

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide Shippify NZ, support the service, comply with applicable obligations and resolve disputes. We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration or loss. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

When you uninstall Shippify NZ, we delete the app's locally stored Shopify sessions. Your saved shipping configuration may remain temporarily while Shopify processes its data deletion requirements. When we receive a verified shop data-redaction request from Shopify, we delete the store's shipping settings, method assignments, integration records and any remaining sessions from our application database.

You can also contact us to request access to or deletion of information associated with your store. Information processed by Shopify and our infrastructure providers may be subject to their own retention and legal requirements.

7. Your privacy rights

You can contact us to request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. You can also ask about deletion or how your information has been used. We will respond in accordance with applicable law, including New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 where relevant.

If your enquiry concerns information collected by a Shopify merchant about its customers, please contact that merchant directly in the first instance.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Shippify NZ changes. The latest version will be published here with an updated date. Material changes may be communicated through the app or other appropriate channels.
